Jalan Telok Wanjah is an important road in Alor Setar, the capital of Kedah in northern Peninsular Malaysia. It runs horizontally across the city centre, connecting two very prominent roads of Alor Setar, the Lebuhraya Darul Aman on the west and Jalan Langgar on the east. As such, Jalan Telok Wanjah provides an important connecting link for vehicles to travel from both sides of Alor Setar where they travel here for work and play.
Landmarks and Subroads
Coming in from the west is Lebuhraya Darul Aman where you will be around the vicinity of Menara Alor Setar, one of the iconic structures here. You will then pass by Wisma AIA in which the Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri is located as well. To reach there, you will need to take the Jalan Tunku Halim intersection. Further towards the east, you will reach Wisma Hasil in which the iconic Alor Setar Monument is located before reaching Perkeso.
There is a roundabout here that connects you with Jalan Stadium. Once you passes by this junction, you will reach Menara PKNK and Menara Peladang respectively. The Sekolah Menengah Agama Nurul Islam Ayer Hitam is situated not far away and you will then approach the Jalan Tiong intersection. Continuing eastwards, you will reach Menara Zakat where Jabatan Zakat Negeri Kedah is located. You will then come towards the T-Junction that connects you with Jalan Langgar where Masjid Tok Keling is located as well as SK Tunku Raudzah.
Jalan Telok Wanjah is a crucial connecting link for motorists and vehicle owners who travel between the east and west of Alor Setar. It is used daily by residents around Alor Setar to travel to and from work as well as the schools around the city. As there are many banks located around here, working adults and white collar workers are seen around here throughout the banking hours.
Jalan Teluk Wanjah is actually one of the busiest roads in Alor Setar. From the Lebuhraya Darul Aman intersection, the traffic flow is peak throughout the day and super peak during the rush hours. Once it enters the road proper, traffic will ease up and become moderate until the Wisma Hasil area where it peaks again. The traffic flow is mainly moderate and low all the way until the Lorong Laksamana vicinity before easing up again, all the way until Jalan Telok Wanjah terminate at the Jalan Langgar junction where it is peak and super peak mostly during the day and evenings.
